PerformanceEngland v India: third and deciding men’s cricket ODI – live

Updates from Lord’s, play starting at 11am BST
You can email James | And sign up for The Spin

5th over: England 37-0 (Duckett 17, Bethell 17) Bethell and Duckett swish and flick, six off the over. India getting twitchy for the breakthrough, fast outfield and it looks a decent track for Lord’s.

4th over: England 31-0 (Duckett 15, Bethell 14) A purr goes round HQ as Bethell plays a classy flash past point. The prowling Kohli can only nod in appreciation as it scorches the turf and whistles past him to the fence. Beaten! Prasidh finally gets one in the right area, angling into Bethell on a good length and then snakes away late, somehow missing the edge and the off bail. Keep it there son.
<a href="https://www.theguardian.com/sport/live/2026/jul/19/england-v-india-third-and-deciding-mens-

PerformanceJoe Root hits unbeaten 99 as England level ODI series with India

India 233 all out; England 235-6 – England win by four wickets

Will Jacks shares in key 72-run stand for sixth wicket

After the meltdown suffered by England’s footballers in Atlanta, the national mood was never going to be significantly improved by their cricketers. Nevertheless, a hard-fought four-wicket victory over India in Cardiff was a boost for Harry Brook’s side and set up a series decider at Lord’s on Sunday.

Not that they did it easy. Set just 234 on a curious surface on which only the technicians prospered – Virat Kohli had earlier purred to 65 from 66 balls – England slipped to 94 for four inside the 20th over. But thanks to Joe Root’s classy unbeaten 99, a win was secured with 35 balls to spare.
<a href="https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2026/jul/16/england-india-second-mens-one-day-cric
